Why Choose PG (Paying Guest) Over Renting Flat?
Whenever someone comes to the city of dreams Mumbai to work, first thought comes to mind, where to stay, how to find accommodation. Especially Women professionals coming into the IT industry.
Parents are also much worried at home, how to find a secured and safe accommodation for their wards in Mumbai. At the start of our career, we try and look for economic options and then we have no option to prefer Paying Guest (PG) over individual flat, which will provide basic facilities such as bed, wardrobe, washing machine and clean drinking water.
Lets see the pros and cons of booth PG Vs FLAT.
Security Assurance in PG
Security in metro cities is always a major concern for working professionals. It is always better for an individual to stay in paying guest facility with other roommates. They stay as a family, it matters the most in case of an emergency.
Mostly PGs are located in a residential society, safety is not much a concern there. In case you go for a whole house you need to care of your security yourself.
Less Rent in PG
PG comes with major advantage considering for working professionals i.e Rent. PGs have less rental value as compared to individual house/flats. Other than that all the expenses get shared with your roommates. Whole flat/house comes at a very high price tag usually they are preferred by families. Bachelors usually stay in shared accommodation so that the overall cost gets reduced.
Always ready to move facilities
When you take the whole house on rent, you need to buy all the necessary household items. PGs are provided with bed, wardrobe, washing machine, refrigerator clean drinking water. In an individual house/flat you need to buy all these furniture and facilities. Overall this saves your initial investment, which you can use elsewhere.
Servicing and Maintenance
Professionals working in metro cities don’t have time for household activities since they are busy with their office life. For these professionals, renting a PG is always a better choice. Daily cleaning and maintenance of appliances are all looked after by the paying guest facility owner. Comparing the same thing with renting a house you need to spend your time on a daily basis, all the maintenance cost has to borne by you.
Food Facility
One of the major concern for working professionals is food, will they get to cook their food or not in PG. Usually, PGs are provided with a kitchen which is to be shared by all, u can cook food yourself or you will be provided with a cook. Some PG services provide healthy food themselves which is included in the cost. In this way you will be saved from cooking and cleaning. Utensils in the kitchen are provided by the owners. When you rent a whole house/flat all these add up to your monthly expenses.
BROKERAGE
Again a major concern for all young professionals, usually you have to pay brokerage of a month to brokers for a renting a flat, while in PGs there is no brokerage. There might be one time small service charge which covers police verification, new keys and all. Comparing both the scenario service charge is just minimal in PGs.
Rules and regulations
There will be some rules, that need to be followed at PG. At some PG facilities, late night entry is not allowed. You will have to take prior permission to bring your friends to your place. Late night parties at PG facilities will not be permitted. Individual house/flat will not have any restrictions like these.
Still considering both options with pros and cons PGs will win hands down for working professionals.
